WHO Gambia Country Cooperation Strategy 2024-2028
The fourth Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS) 2024–2028 between the Government of The Gambia and the World Health Organization (WHO) serves as a strategic framework guiding their partnership. It outlines WHO's medium-term vision and aligns with The Gambia's national health and development agenda, the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The CCS formulation included an evaluation of the previous CCS (2016–2022) and a comprehensive health situation analysis, resulting in the identification of four strategic priorities. The implementation of the CCS will involve various strategies such as capacity development, evidence generation, policy dialogue, and partnerships. WHO will support the Ministry of Health in coordinating health partners and building strategic partnerships to facilitate the CCS priorities.
The CCS is in line with WHO’s Thirteenth and Fourteenth General Programmes of Work and emphasizes multisectoral cooperation to achieve health-related SDGs. WHO anticipates a productive partnership with the Government of The Gambia to improve health and well-being in the country.
