Gulu, 27th March 2015:- The World Tuberculosis (TB) day was held at the Kaunda grounds, in Gulu district under the theme “reach the 60,000, patients in Uganda” to celebrate the reductions in numbers of TB patients in Uganda. 

Uganda commemorates World Health Day 2015

Agago, 18 April 2015:- Uganda Commemorated World Health day at Agago district headquarters under the theme ‘Food safety for good health’.  The overarching message to all Ugandans was to always ensure safety of food from the farm to the plate.

Uganda Commemorates World Cancer Day 2015

Kiryandongo, 21 April 2015: Uganda commemorated the World Cancer Day, under the theme ‘Cancer prevention and control not beyond us’’.  The overarching message to the people was that individuals, communities, organisations and government have a role to play in the prevention and control of cancer; ranging from vaccination to palliative care.

Inter-District eMTCT peer learning meeting held in Kampala

Kampala 4th May, 2015:- The Inter-district Elimination of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV/AIDS (eMTCT) Peer Learning Meeting was held at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala. The meeting which was organized by  African Mayors’ initiative for Community action on AIDS  (AMICAALL)  was to address the problems and find solutions to improving the performance of the 25 slow-progressing districts in achieving eMTCT in Uganda.

Uganda Commemorates World Malaria Day 2015

Kaberamaido, 14 May 2015:- Uganda commemorated the World Malaria Day in Kaberamaido district with an appeal to communities to always sleep under Insecticide Treated Mosquito Nets (ITNs) and to test for malaria before treatment.

Uganda Launches the Global Road Safety Campaign

Kampala, 21 May, 2015:- The United Nations Global Road Safety Campaign was launched in Kampala at the World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office with a call to parents to play a key role in safeguarding their children’s lives on roads. The theme of the campaign is “Save kids’ lives”.

WHO strengthens disease surveillance in Kampala city

Kampala, 26th May 2015:- The World Health Organization (WHO) donated a brand new Toyota Double Cabin vehicle to Naguru China Friendship Hospital to support the hospital’s Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) and Integrated Disease surveillance and response supportive supervision. This was in addition to computers and other Information Technology equipment that were handed over in November 2014.

WHO supports post-shipping testing of Life Saving Commodities

Kampala 3rd June 2015:- The World Health Organization (WHO) donated equipment to National Drug Authority (NDA) to be used for post-shipment testing of the 13 priority Life Saving Commodities (LSC) as described by the United Nations Commission Life Saving Commodities. The commodities include injections, medicines, female condoms, contraceptives and an electric suction pump and are intended to boost NDA’s capacity to test LSC, medicines and health commodities.
