WHO Country Office Commemorated International Women’s Day
To promote and sensitize all staff on the objectives of the international women’s day, the WHO Country Office marked the event on the 8th of March at the WCO Cafeteria.
The WR gave a brief opening remark that emphasized on the critical role the female staff members have on the day to day delivery of the WHO Eritrea Country Office. Female represent 64% of the WCO staff.
A team composed of the male staff members provided a reception service to the WCO female colleagues. A panel discussion was held, where a team of three male staff members raised questions to their colleagues with emphasis on the history and objectives of women’s day.
To further enhance the awareness of all staff members on women’s rights, an information bulletin on the UN Women was distributed. In addition, series of lunch time seminars will be held throughout the year.
At the end of the session, in line with the WHO AFRO program for recognition of outstanding staff, WR awarded Ms Rahwa Solomon, ICT Clerk, a certificate of recognition for ensuring WCO business continuity for the last 12 months.
