Since the implementation of the WHO Transformation Agenda, the External Relations, Partnerships and Governing Bodies (EPG) Unit has proven a crucial role towards successfully operationalizing WHO’s mandate through the 13th General Programme of Work. The expectations of donors and partners have been realized and efforts to diversify strategic partnerships and enhance partner engagement have been amplified through:

• Reinforcing AFRO country offices with high-caliber international External Relations Officers (EROs) in majority of WHO/AFRO Member States.
• Showcasing greater Return on Investment whilst applying Value for Money and diversifying the partner base.
• Demonstrating greater accountability through quality and timely reporting.
• Increasing participation in UN joint programmes and Pooled Funds.
• Strengthening relations with the private sector and non-state actors.
