EPR-TAG and RITAG Joint Recommendations on Mpox
On 23 August 2024, the WHO AFRO Emergency Preparedness and Response Technical Advisory Group (EPR TAG) and the Regional Immunization Technical Advisory Group (RITAG) released joint recommendations addressing the Mpox emergency across Africa. Recommendations emphasize that a regionally led response is the most effective strategy to stop the outbreak, while signaling strong support for WHO AFRO and Africa CDC's calls for global solidarity. They outline clear actions for WHO, Africa CDC, GAVI, Member States, and partners to prioritize, focused on rapidly mobilizing resources, expertise, and the tools needed to help African nations halt the spread of Mpox.
