Sierra Leone Human Resources for Health Strategic Plan (2017-2021)
This is a publication of the Sierra Leone Ministry of Health and Sanitation.
Sierra Leone has long suffered from health worker shortages. In the aftermath of the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak, the importance of investing in the health workforce became more evident than ever. Since then, the Ministry of Health and Sanitation made significant efforts to rebuild the health sector, with focus on strengthening human resources for health (HRH). Hence, the Human Resources for Health Policy 2017-2021 and the Human Resources for Health Strategy 2017-2021 were developed to serve as building blocks in the larger effort to strengthen the health sector and improve health outcomes in Sierra Leone.
This HRH Strategy provides a framework to guide investments and activities to achieve the vision, goal, and objectives set forth in the recently revised HRH Policy 2017-2021.
