Rwanda commemorates World TB Day

Monday 24th March 2014 was world TB Day. World TB Day was designed to commemorate the discovery of the TB causing bacteria, tuberculosis bacillus by Dr. Robert Koch in 1882. Currently, TB is still endemic in many nations around the world and affects 9 million people each year, and kills 1.3 million annually.

Integrated Mother and Child Health week and 12+ Program launching in Rwanda

Rwanda has organized from 07th to 09th October the Integrated Mother and Child Health Week for the second time this year. The first week was organized in March 2014. The launching ceremony took place in Musanze District, Northern Province on 07th October. The launching of the Week coincided with the launching of the 12+ Program targeting young girls between 10 and 12 years. The Guest of Honour of this ceremony was the Minister of State in charge of Public Health and Primary Health Care. Among other guests were the Executive Secretary of Northern Province, and the Mayor of Musanze District.

World Mental Health Day in Rwanda 2014

Rwanda has celebrated the World Health Day on 10th October 2014. The theme of this year was « Living a healthy life with Schizophrenia ». The theme has been adapted at country level and put into national context. Also sensitization activities on mental health have been conducted country wide during the entire month of October by the national Mental Health Programme, Rwanda Biomedical Center, Ministry of Health with support of its various NGOs partners.

World AIDS Day Celebration in Rwanda

This year the World Aids Day was launched on December 1, 2014 at Lemigo Hotel, Kigali, with the theme entitled: “The Role of Media in Early Treatment to Reduce HIV related Morbidity and Mortality”. The function gathered representatives of media community, newspapers, radio, television, and social media.

Rwanda hosts high level meeting on tobacco taxation in the African Region

Kigali, 2 March 2015 -- The World Health Organization (WHO), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning of Rwanda have organized a two day workshop from 2 to 3 March 2015 to help governments improve health and increase revenues by identifying “best practices” for tobacco taxation.

Rwanda commemorates Integrated Mother and Child Health Week

From 30 March to 3 April 2015, Rwanda organized its annual Integrated Mother and Child Health (MCH) Week. The MCH Week takes place twice a year and serves as an opportunity to catch up with health service provisions to particularly vulnerable, hard to reach communities and children that are eligible for vaccination but have not yet received it.
