Update COVID-19 18 February 2021

18 February 2021 — One hundred, and nineteen (119) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4391 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases seventeen thousand, eight hundred, and thirty-five (17835). To date, sixteen thousand, one hundred, and sixty-three (16163) patients have recovered, including two hundred, and forty-five (245) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, four hundred, and twenty-nine (1429) and two hundred, and forty-three (243) deaths. 


The new cases are in Kigali (27), Nyamagabe (12), Ruhango (11), Kayonza (9), Gisagara (8), Rubavu (8), Huye (7), Rulindo (5), Karongi (5), Gatsibo (4), Muhanga (3), Nyaruguru (3), Kamonyi (3), Rusizi (2), Nyanza (2),  Rwamagana (2), Bugesera (2), Gakenke (2), Ngororero (1), Rutsiro (1), Nyabihu (1), and Musanze (1); and heightened vigilance is required everywhere.
 
The COVID-19 prevention measures announced by the Government of Rwanda must continue to be rigorously observed, especially frequent hand-washing and physical distancing. In addition, face masks must be worn in public and multi-family compounds.
Withholding information related to contact tracing or COVID-19 symptoms, jeopardises public safety and will be punished in accordance with applicable laws.
