Launch of the African Network of Poison Control Centres in Algiers
The meeting to launch the African network of anti-poison centres is being held in Algiers from 17 to 20 September 2018 under the aegis of WHO Africa and the Ministry of Population Health and Hospital Reform of Algeria.
This regional meeting will bring together representatives from 11 poison control facilities and toxicology units in the WHO Africa region (Algeria, Angola, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania and Zimbabwe) .
The four-day meeting will give participants and representatives of poison control centres in the member countries the opportunity to share their experiences in the field of prevention and management of poisoning cases. The meeting will also focus on the functioning of the new network, and will establish the terms of reference, operating regulations and action plan for the African Network of Poison Control Centres.
