21 August 2016, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Today, all forty-seven WHO Member States in the African Region adopted unanimously a new malaria framework for Africa. This framework aims to guide African countries on how to implement the Global Technical Strategy for malaria in the Region. It proposes specific priority interventions and actions to be implemented by Member States to reach “an African Region free of malaria”.

Addis Ababa, 29 August 2012 -- The “Evidence Informed Health Policy in Low and Middle Income Countries” Forum which is coorganised by the WHO Headquarters and the Country Office, the Evidence – informed Health Policy Network (EVIPNet), Supporting the Use of Research Evidence in African Health Systems” (SURE), the Regional East African Community Health (REACH) Policy, the Ethiopian Health and Nutrition Research Institute (EHNRI) and the European Commission kicked off yesterday in the presence of Dr. Amha Kebede, representing H.E. Dr.

His Excellency  Dr. Tedros Adhanom, Minister of Health (MOH) and Patron of the 13th World Public Health Congress and Dr. Tewabech Bishaw, President of EPHA, recognized  institutions and individuals for their contribution to the success of the 13th World Congress of Public Health in an official ceremony organized by the EPHA, at the Sheraton Addis Hotel, on 11th August 2012.  The WHO   Regional Office   and WHO Country Office (WCO) / Ethiopia were among the recipients of crystal awards for their significant contributions.

Addis Ababa, 06-07 August 2012 -- Ethiopia observed the World Breast Feeding Week (WBFW) for the 4th time under the theme, “understand the past and plan for the future”. The WBFW, launched twenty years ago by the World Alliance for Breast Feeding Action (WABA), focuses on actions to protect, promote and support breastfeeding.
